So much has changed, and even come to a halt, since early 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact our lives. Many establishments closed and people were separated from their loved ones.
Now, things are slowly on the upswing, but lots of people are still cautious, and rightfully so. While we’ve been urged to socially distance ourselves and even quarantine to stay safe, that does not completely rule out a fun date night with your significant other. Sure, you may have to think a bit outside of the box to keep you and your loved one safe, but isn’t a little fun worth the effort?
Below, we’re sharing some of the ways in which you can get creative and plan the ultimate date
night for the one you love while still keeping safety in mind.
While scheduling a virtual date with your partner may seem obvious, there are many ways you can take it a step or two further to make things more fun. For example, you can decide together on an activity you’d like to do such as creating a unique cocktail. To ensure the safety of you and your date, opt to have the boozy essentials you need delivered , eliminating the need to venture out to a liquor or grocery store to purchase them. Chat with each other beforehand so you can properly time the delivery out, and if you’re looking for a snack to go with your newly created beverage, don’t forget to tack that on to the order as well! You’ll share lots of laughs as you go through each step of creating this fun libation and at the end, you can even engage in well-deserved cheers! (Virtual of course!)
If you’re still in the early stages of dating, or maybe this is the first date, it may be a bit tougher to keep the conversation going. To help move things along a bit and avoid those awkward luls, consider taking some time before the date to prep some questions you want to ask your newfound love interest. Having a few questions to reference can be a great way to break the ice and may be just the spark you need to ignite the flame on this virtual date.
Embrace the Great Outdoors
Has this pandemic been giving you some serious cabin fever? If so, this is the perfect excuse to grab your date and schedule some fun with good old Mother Nature herself. Whether it’s a walk along your favorite trail or a hike at a close by waterfall, getting some fresh air into your lungs is a great way to spend time with your loved one while also adhering to social distancing guidelines.
To make this outing even more special, pack a picnic-style lunch complete with your favorite foods, beverages, and desserts. You can even bring along a couple of candles or a portable speaker in order to set the mood and make things more romantic. If you and your date are not super outdoorsy, keep in mind that you can indulge in this picnic lunch or dinner in your very own backyard as well. Either way, trying something new like an outdoor date keeps you safe and allows you to have fun and be creative!
Get Cozy at Home
Let’s face it, things may be starting to open up and businesses alike are following social distancing protocol, but not everyone is ready to dive back in to engaging in activities such as sitting down in a busy restaurant to eat a meal. If you and your s/o can’t quite cozy up to the idea of going out to a public place, transform your living room, or another space in your home, into a romantic date night destination.
Dim the lights and set the mood with a romantic playlist filled with you and your partner’s favorite songs. Prepare a special meal or order takeout from your favorite restaurant. After dinner, get comfy on the couch and watch a movie or get a fire roaring in the fireplace. If you and your date have a sweet tooth, indulge in a decadent dessert. If you want to keep the night going, pour yourselves a night cap (or several).
Staying in with the one you love can be just as enjoyable, and much safer, than going out. With a few small personal touches and a little attention to detail, you may find yourself choosing to get cozy at home for a date-night-in long after the pandemic ends!
The year 2020 came with it’s fair share of challenges and while we may still be facing some obstacles, your dating lives and connecting with those you love shouldn’t take a back seat. There are plenty of ways to come together safely. Whether it’s a virtual date mixing up cocktails and getting to know each other, a day spent enjoying each other and the great outdoors, or a romantic night at home, a little bit of creativity goes a long way. Thinking outside of the box may take a bit more effort, but right now safety is a priority and if you can keep yourself and your partner safe while still enjoying each other’s company, it’s more than worth it!
