DEAR MARIA: I am a man that just turned 40, and I am a bit bummed out. I am starting to believe that my age is working against me! I was too busy trying to succeed and time sneaked up on me. I know people evaluate their options and compare people they go out with, and I think that I could be at disadvantage. Please give me your advice as I would really like to meet someone for a serious relationship that could lead to family. I fear that all that I have accomplished thus far in my life was for nothing.-RUNNING OUT OF TIME

Dear RUNNING OUT OF TIME,

It is all in your head! All women over 30 want to meet men that are 40 (at least the secure and sane ones do.) A Man who is 40 in Manhattan signifies that he works hard, that he’s driven, successful… women love that! Single men that are 40 are charismatic, they have evolved personalities, strong sense of humor… Again, it’s all in your head. Think about what you have to offer at your age that other men cannot. You are likely more emotionally mature, you’re clearly ready for a serious relationship, and you have so much more to offer at this age than you did when you were younger. Look at your age as a strength, because that is truly all it is!
