I’m beyond thrilled to share that I’ll be participating in NPR’s Open to Debate on February 5, 2025, at 6:00 PM ET, discussing a topic that’s been at the heart of my work for years: Is It Time to Break Up with Dating Apps?

As the founder of Agape Match and host of the Ask a Matchmaker podcast, I’ve spent nearly two decades helping people navigate modern dating—both online and offline. I’ve seen firsthand how dating apps can be both a powerful tool for connection and a source of frustration, dating fatigue, and burnout. While apps promise convenience, they’ve also contributed to the loneliness epidemic and an era of endless swiping with fewer meaningful connections.

In this debate, I’ll be going head-to-head with Melissa Hobley, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Tinder, to explore whether dating apps are still the best way to meet a partner—or if it’s time for singles to reclaim their dating lives beyond the algorithm. With 90% of Gen Z stepping away from dating apps, it’s clear that people are rethinking the way they find love. So, what’s the future of dating? That’s exactly what we’ll be debating.

Why This Matters Now

This debate couldn’t come at a more exciting time for me. It’s happening just months before the launch of my book, Ask a Matchmaker, in May 2025, where I dive deep into how we’ve lost touch with real-world connection and how to take back control of your love life. If you’re feeling online dating fatigue, frustrated by ghosting, or overwhelmed by the paradox of choice, this conversation is for you.

I can’t wait to bring my experience, research, and matchmaking insights to this national conversation about the future of love and relationships. Whether you’re someone who swears by dating apps or you’re completely over them, this debate will be eye-opening.

How to Watch

We will be filming in front of a live audience on February 5, 2025, at 6:00 PM ET. You can find more details on the official Open to Debate website. Let’s talk about what dating should look like in 2025 and beyond.
