I’ve always felt that the best matchmakers are the collaborative matchmakers. When I started my business, I couldn’t fathom not turning every stone to find a match for my client, even if it meant speaking to my competitor. Maybe they had a client who was a match for my client? Let me grab the phone and ask.

Prior to 2010, matchmakers in North America existed as little islands. It felt lonely to have a unique career and have no one to speak to to figure out what experiences were normal, weird, or justifiably frustrating.

In 2010, I created the Matchmakers Alliance. In its original form, it was a message board for professional matchmakers who wanted to help scout for their clients. Dating professionals also utilized the message boards to ask questions about business operations.

In 2012, we hosted our first conference. It was on a cruise. We called it the love boat. 

In 2023, the Matchmakers Alliance is made up of over 400 professional matchmakers from around the globe.

And right now, 95 of them are currently with me in Cancun to attend the 12th annual Matchmakers Alliance Conference at Club Med.

And I’m talking about you! And all the fun things we can do together! Some of those talks involved matching you, of course. The conversations also include the podcast, Agape Escapes (more on that later) and even next month’s advent calendar opening. (I’m doing the Korres advent calendar this year with over 1000 of you! Anyway, I am only on day one of the conference, and I’m learning so much from my colleagues and professionals, and I cannot wait to share them with you next week.

Have you ever thought about how we lack so many opportunities in making friends as adults?
